BYEC 1Entrepreneur challenge or BYEC (Bandung Young Entrepreneur Competition) 2018 is a national business competition held by SBM ITB in collaboration with Entrepreneurship student association IMK Artha. The competition invites high school students from all over Indonesia to participate. The theme of this entrepreneur challenge is Design Thinking and Innovation which encourages the participants to find problems that evolve around them and use the design thinking process to solve the problems in a unique way and deliver the best innovative output.
In addition, they also learn how to make Business Model Canvas for the next stage of implementing their problem solutions into an actionable business idea. Both DTI process and Business Model Canvas are part of SBM ITB curriculum especially in the bachelor of entrepreneurship program. This is introduced to high school student so that they can have a closer look at what it feels like learning in SBM, obtain new knowledge, and possibly gain interest to join the faculty..BYEC 2
After the selection process involving teams from all over Indonesia, the committee of entrepreneurship challenge selected 10 best teams to compete in Bandung. The competition was held from 31 August 2018 until 1 September 2018. In the first day, all of the participants gathered at the front entrance of auditorium freeport building to have welcoming lunch and networking activities. Then, they entered the auditorium and listened to a warm welcome from Mr. Sonny Rustiadi, the head of SBM ITB for Student Affairs. The last speech was given by Zed Ridlo, the former chairman of IMK Artha, also one of the committee members of the Entrepreneur Challenge. The agenda of the first day was that all of the participants attended a workshop on Design Thinking and Innovation by Labtek Indie. At the end of the workshop, the participants received the case of the competition and were given some time to ask further about it before they finally returned to Frances hotel Bandung to prepare for the next day pitching.

In the second day, all of the participant had to present their work in front of Labtek Indie as the facilitator in this competition. Then, after the presentation, the 5 business mentors were assigned to the 10 teams so that every 2 teams were assisted by 1 mentor. The mentoring process prepared the team for performing their best in the final pitching that will be judged by Mr. Sonny Rustiadi as the head of SBM ITB for Student Affairs, Mr. Aktsa M. Effendy as the CEO of Mejakita, and Ms. Shinta Arum as Tokopedia Community Development Specialist. This final pitching determined the final result of the competition and the winners of Entrepreneur Challenge. After finishing the final pitching, all of the participant headed back to the hotel and prepared themselves for attending the gala dinner for the awarding night and talk show.

In the gala dinner and talk show, Entrepreneur Challenge invited 5 best students of science and social majors from all top high schools in Bandung, such as SMAN 2, SMAN 3, SMAN 5, SMAK 1, and Taruna Bakti Bandung to celebrate the main event and get insights from the talk show with Mr Aktsa, Ms Shinta, and CEO Labtek Indie as the main speakers, moderated by Mr. Sonny Rustiadi. The speakers mainly talked about entrepreneurship and how to start a business in this era. In the awarding night, which was also the main event that every participant awaited, the winners were announced by the Entrepreneur Challenge Committee. The first place was taken by the Ace team, the second place was Perfect Two team, and the third place was the Penities Team. The best idea award was given to VHSDTBS Team and the best speaker was awarded to Andristi Tekan from The Effort Team.
