The Swiss Innovation Challenge Asia-Indonesia is an innovation competition for projects at the ideation, conceptualisation and start-up stage as well as for established businesses. The Swiss Innovation Challenge Asia-Indonesia is a collaboration between School of Business And Management (SBM) Institut Teknologi Bandung with University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland School of Business (FHNW). The competition is open to businesses, non-profit organisations and individuals who wish to introduce and implement an innovation or who have worked on an innovation already for some time. The Swiss Innovation Challenge Asia-Indonesia is conducted since June 2018. The competition is divided into three phases. 200 teams competed in the first phase to outlining the innovation. 68 of 200 teams at this phase were selected to advance the second phase. Furthermore, the focus in the second stage is to turn the business idea into a business plan. Participants are asked to arrange a business plan based on concrete innovation. Then 15 selected teams are going to the final phase.
The focus on the final phase is to polish the business plan and compiling an implementation plan. Teams are asked to do the pitch presentation which focuses on the implementation plan of the innovation. The final pitch presentation is a large public event where teams need to demonstrate to the judges how’s the plan to implement the innovation within seven minutes. The finalist are come from throughout Indonesia, such as: Medan, Makassar, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Balikpapan, Semarang, Bandung and Jakarta. The 15 teams who were reached the final phase are: Abon.Culum, Aquaponics, Biodiscbrake Pads Composite, Blockchain Cloud Storage, Calatos Cup, Coffee Cycle, Dr.Tania, Ecogreen corncob-based, Emity.id, E-yours, IKI AKU, Innovation to Produce Essential Oi, Medical Ozone Generator, Mercure, ROLIC.
The final phase of the competition has been held on August 9th 2018 at Padma Resort Legian Bali. With the 10 judges come from various background as academics, professionals and entrepreneurs, such as: Mr. Rolf-Dieter Reineke, Ms. Barbara Eisenbart, Mr. Andika Putra Pratama, Mr. Arief Budiman, Mr. Anton Adibroto, Mr. Ismail Rahim, Mr. Leo Aldianto, Ms. Isti R. Mirzanti, Ms. Nadya Saib, Ms. Stefani Alouw. The first winner of Swiss Innovation Challenge Asia-Indonesia is the project titled “Dr.Tania” , while the second and third winners are “Biodiscbrake Pads Composite” and “Innovation to Produce Essential Oil”. The first winner will get the prize money of Rp. 100.000.000,- while second and third winner will get Rp. 30.000.000,- and Rp. 15.000.000,- respectively. Also, the first winner have a chance to get invited to exclusive events in Switzerland.
Building on the tremendous success of the Swiss Innovation Challenge which has been conducted for the last two years, SBM ITB and FHNW hope that this competition will become a place for developing and implementing innovation.
