For the 8th time, HSBC held HSBC Business Case Competition on Monday, February 17th, 2020 with SBM ITB as the host. This competition is entered by students from SBM ITB, Padjadjaran University, and Parahyangan Catholic University. HSBC Business Competition is a place to hone students’ abilities in Business to answer business cases creatively and innovativaly.
The contestants tell that this competition not only a place for them to strengthen their skills but also as a good opportunity to build wider connections, experiences, and learn deeper about banking. In line with contestants’ expectations, SBM-ITB also hopes this competition can give a big opportunity for the students to build a good network of both fellow participants and HSBC as a provision for the world of work. Sonny Rustiady – SBM ITB Director of Students Affairs stated,” Please use this opportunity for networking…build your network because networking is one of the most important assets for business and professionals.” Other than that, SBM ITB also hopes Bandung can become Indonesia’s Representative at the International stage because this competition not only held in Indonesia but also in Asia Pacific, Europe, and, USA.
This year, there are seven teams from three different universities who compete and in the end, two teams will be chosen to compete at the national level. A series of activity will be followed by the contestants that is coaching class, brainstorming, and business presentation. In several hours they will be prepared with relevant theories and knowledge, discussing their thought about the business case that given to them, and presenting their innovative and creative idea in front of the judges.
Not only Business analytical skill, this competition also expected can help the contestant to hone their teamwork ability especially in professional presentation skill. “Team dynamic is another challenge…how you divide the role and what is the best way to answer Board of Jury’s questions, you guys have to prepare these things in two and a half hours, so team dynamic is necessary thing too.” HSBC Indonesia Vice President Corporate Sustainability, Yudhi Sutrisna explained.
HSBC believes this competition could give a real picture of the world of work for the contestants both those who want to become entrepreneurs or professionals.
