The research result of Indonesia Career Center Network (ICCN) per 2017 has shown that 71.7 college students admitted that they are in a wrong. When in fact we can find out our passion and talent through a series of tests that can tell our genetic potential such as through fingerprint test, retinal test, or DNA test.
“Usually people divide our brain dominant usage into two. They are either left or right brain. Left brain people are tend to be more analytics, logic, detail, fact-oriented, numeric, and have inclined to think with words, while right brain people are tend to be more creative, think freely, big-picture person, intuitive, and have inclined to visualized more than words,” Nuslih Jamiat, SE, MM. said in front of SBM students on Thursday, 20 February 2020 in Creativity and Innovation class.
This natural intelligence could be understood as the systems of control present in biology. Right brain corresponds to the left hand and the left brain corresponds to the right hand.
“Yet, actually, the brain mapping test usually is divided into five. The first one is the upper left brain side. People who tend to use this upper left brain more are usually analytical and smart. They are good academically. The second is the bottom left brain side which is famous for its ability to memorize and have diligent behavior. The third is the upper right brain side. These kinds of people are usually able to think creatively and innovatively. They are very good at contributing new ideas. The fourth is the bottom left brain side which often uses emotions. People who use this side of the brain tend to be very concerned with relationships. They are smart at making new friends. The last one is the midbrain. These kinds of people tend to use instinct and are versatile,” he explains.
By understanding our nature behavior and abilities, we can channel our talents to our profession. This becomes important since working according to our genetic ability will likely ease us to pursue a career without any burden.
“But actually the behavior of using which side of the brain can change overtime. But one thing we should know is like a knife, the underside must be sharp, but the top doesn’t have to be sharp. Just like the ability of a human who does not need to be experts in many fields. Just one skill that suits our talents and interests,” Pak Nuslih closed.
