We must recognize that the challenge is not limited to a pandemic; we face it daily. Hence, we must maintain a vigilant mindset in all circumstances. MBA ITB Jakarta invited Bani Mulia, the CEO of Samudera Indonesia, to provide an overview of the logistics and shipping industry. Thursday (20/1/2022).
“In the shipping industry, we believe that there will be challenges in every wave. Thus, we must remain vigilant and consider how we will respond to any arising challenges.” said a graduate from the University of Indonesia and Deakin University in Australia.
Bani explained that the pandemic was more than just a health issue. For example, he explained how the global container crisis and high freight costs are the most recent challenges confronting the shipping industry.
“The problem of international demand-supply containers has grown due to the international crisis. The consequence is that it will have a rational impact on domestic production. The challenge for every company in this industry is to reduce costs and find creative solutions to capital-related problems,” said Bani.
Under these conditions, decision-making must be quick and precise. Samudera Indonesia and all of its subsidiaries will continue to work hard to connect all regions of Indonesia by sea. Samudera Indonesia’s strategy is to continue collaborating with various start-ups, both local and international, to work with the young to catch up with the progress of the digital era, and always to be aware of competitors’ conditions for them to continue to innovate.
