SBM ITB exhibited the solar energy for electricity to Balai Besar Pengembangan Penjaminan Mutu Pendidikan Vokasi (BBPPMPV), an Implementing Unit of the Ministry of Education and Culture that came to Bandung on Wednesday (7/9). In front of the BBPMPPV group for Machinery and Industrial Engineering, Acting Deputy Dean for SBM ITB Resources, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ignatius Pulung Nurprasetio, explained that SBM ITB is preparing to use solar panels to meet the operational electricity needs of the XIX SBM ITB Technology Laboratory (Labtek) Building or known as the Freeport Indonesia Building.
SBM ITB has collaborated with PT. Matra Mandiri Prima and PT. Global Pratama Powerindo, the companies engaged in renewable energy, to install electricity for the roof.
According to Prof. Pulung, the application of solar panels is entitled “Smart Microgrid & Smart Building Digital Twin, SBM ITB.”
“The Freeport Building clean electricity program also uses the Smart Grid system. It is part of the Energy Management Laboratory – Engineering Physics ITB research program, one of the Thesis topics of ITB Physics Engineering Doctoral students, Putu Handre Kertha Utama, S.T., MT.”
Putu argued that the system is simple. Solar panels capture light energy from the sun and convert it into electricity. The team then added a battery that stores electrical power and three inverters converting DC to AC.
