SBM ITB welcomed exchange students for the even semester on Thursday (1/2). The Chief Executive, Ira Fachria, mentioned that the school welcomes 18 international students from various countries, including France, Russia, Germany, Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, the Philippines, the Netherlands, and India, participating in the student exchange program.
To facilitate the adaptation of exchange students, SBM ITB has developed a student buddy program to facilitate the adaptation process of international students, especially in the first weeks of their stay in Bandung. This program is also designed to involve SBM ITB students in helping international students adjust to different educational, social, and cultural lives. The responsibilities of a student buddy include communicating before the arrival of international students, helping them adjust to temporary residence in Bandung, providing assistance with daily activities such as shopping, and providing information related to student life at SBM ITB and Bandung.
According to Ira, international students need to understand the profile of SBM ITB, the programs offered, academic regulations, life in Bandung, and security issues while living in Indonesia. With the student buddy program, it is hoped that international students can feel more comfortable and receive adequate support in undergoing their learning experience at SBM ITB and adapting to the new environment in Bandung.
One of the international students, Yse Lacroix from France’s Kedge Business School, gave a positive testimony about her experience in Indonesia. He felt happy because he was warmly received by friendly and helpful people.
