Meegi, a neuroscience innovation, has changed how mental health and cognitive function interact. Meegi offers cutting-edge, neuroscience-based services to assess and improve sleep quality, stress levels, and anxiety.

According to neuroscientist and CEO Nurfadilah Sari Febriani, Meegi uses powerful quantitative recording technology to identify brain waves in real time, providing individualized audio simulations that improve brain function and quality of life. Nurfadilah explained her innovation in a guest lecture at the SBM ITB, entitled “Neurobusiness: Share and Talks” on Tuesday (7/5).

In this lecture, Nurfadilah explained how he built Meegi. She has worked at RSCM, especially in neuroscience.

She and her team from ITB are currently working on a mobile application service focusing on understanding human care needs in response to their brain. This initiative began when the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly exacerbated mental health problems globally. With many people having to stay at home, there has been a marked increase in stress and depression levels.

“The Covid-19 outbreak has changed the lives of many people. Being at home for long periods has increased anxiety and stress. “We started from that, and we believe that there needs to be tools or services that help individuals understand their mental health problems, diagnose what is happening, and what treatment they need to get back to normal,” said Nurfadilah.

Nowadays, people realize that mental health is a critical topic. Gen-Z, for example, is more aware of mental health and is more likely to self-diagnose.

“This (self-diagnosis) should be prevented,” said Nurfadilah.

According to Nurfadilah, Meegi addresses this problem by creating digital solutions that help people manage their mental health more effectively. Meegi’s approach relies heavily on EEG (electroencephalography) technology.

EEG technology, known for its portability and low cost, records brain impulses and allows examination of various brain conditions. For example, high Beta waves indicate focused attention, but high Alpha waves indicate relaxation. This thorough research allows Meegi to provide highly personalized and effective mental health solutions.

Recent statistics reveal that 26.7% of people suffer from depression, 29.3% experience anxiety, and 22.9% face significant stress. This statistic is one of Meegi’s concerns, underlying the importance of Meegi’s work.

In addition, Meegi also prioritizes sleep quality. Getting enough sleep is essential for mental health because it allows the brain to eliminate toxins and consolidate memories. Poor quality sleep can lead to increased stress and other mental health problems. The Meegi tool seeks to improve sleep quality and overall mental health.

Although Meegi provides personalized services based on customer needs, people with special conditions need to consult a doctor about whether multiple treatments are necessary. Meegi does not want to bypass medical treatment but helps patients achieve the maximum possible treatment and get better.

Meegi aims to make neuroscience solutions practical and accessible, helping individuals monitor and improve their mental health and cognitive function. Meegi seeks to improve overall well-being and quality of life by personalizing services to each individual’s brain needs.
