ITB and PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (SMI), a special mission vehicle from the Ministry of Finance, have officially initiated a partnership aimed at enhancing the impact of Indonesia’s Fiscal Decentralization Policy. The signing ceremony took place in the auditorium of SBM ITB, Bandung, on Friday (1/11).

In his remarks, Dr. Luky Alfirman, S.T., M.A., Director General of Fiscal Balance at the Ministry of Finance, highlighted that this agreement is part of the broader effort to support Indonesia Emas 2045. As an educational institution, ITB will contribute ideas for developing human resources and establishing new economic centers to support Indonesia’s economic growth.

Four faculties and schools at ITB are involved in this partnership. The School of Business and Management (SBM) will provide management consulting, economic research, and fiscal policy insights, while the Faculty of Industrial Technology, the School of Architecture, Planning, and Policy Development (SAPPK), and the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) will share research findings, innovations, and relevant technologies.

“PT SMI will collaborate with ITB and the Ministry of Finance on Fiscal Decentralization,” stated Faaris Pranawa, Director of Public Financing and Project Development at PT SMI, who attended the signing.

According to the Dean of SBM ITB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ignatius Pulung Nurprasetio, M.SME, this agreement follows the International Seminar on Fiscal Decentralization held on September 4, 2024. The “Creative Financing of Regional Infrastructure to Support SDGs 2030 Towards Golden Indonesia 2045” seminar laid the groundwork for this collaboration.

The Ministry of Finance and ITB aspire for this partnership to strengthen the impact of fiscal decentralization policies, promote creative financing schemes for regional infrastructure, foster collaboration between local governments, academics, and financing institutions, and accelerate regional infrastructure development. Additionally, the collaboration aims to establish a sustainable ecosystem for financing regional infrastructure projects. This signing marks an important step towards achieving Indonesia Emas 2045 and is expected to inspire further partnerships.
