Master of Science in Management (MSM) students batch 23 from the SBM ITB, rejuvenated their minds and bodies during the two-day Fun Research retreat in Pangalengan, Bandung (11/15). This event, specially organized for students immersed in their final semester research, aimed to provide a much-needed break, foster enjoyment, and encourage self-reflection.
The retreat began with an invigorating 3-kilometer trek along a river on Mount Puntang, serving as the perfect activity to relieve the stress and fatigue associated with research. Participants were also introduced to the fascinating world of coffee through a workshop at a local coffee cooperative. During the workshop, they learned about the coffee production process, from bean to cup, and had the opportunity to sample various coffee types using the cupping technique.
A highlight of the retreat was a counseling session led by SBM ITB psychologist Maria Puspa. In this session, participants engaged in deep self-reflection, exploring the many roles they play in their lives.
“This counseling session helped me to understand myself better,” said Syifa, one of the participants. “I realized I have many roles to fulfill and must find balance among them.”
Arsy, another participant, added, “I found the character discussion session very enlightening. It gave me a clearer understanding of my strengths and weaknesses.”
To conclude the session, participants were asked to write down things they need to start, continue, and stop, helping them plan for a more balanced and fulfilling future.
The retreat ended on a high note with an exhilarating rafting experience. While many participants had rafted before, this time felt unique thanks to the supportive natural surroundings.
The Fun Research event for MSM Batch 23 successfully benefited its participants significantly. Beyond offering a chance to unwind and enjoy themselves, the retreat encouraged self-awareness, personal growth, and the development of stronger relationships with peers.
