SBM ITB believe that schools of business should nurture students to become socially responsible managers, leaders, and entrepreneurs. Therefore, along with many forward-thinking international universities all around the globe, SBM ITB are committed to the Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME), an initiative of the United Nations Global Compact to promote awareness about the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

PRME seek to establish a process of continuous improvement among institutions of management education in order to develop a new generation of business leaders capable of managing complex challenges faced by business and society in the 21st century. One of the PRME principles held by SBM ITB is SBM ITB will develop the capabilities of students to be future generators of sustainable value for business and society at large and to work for an inclusive and sustainable global economy.

Referring to the principles, SBM ITB gives a tumblr to new students from batch 2022 as one of the real actions in supporting PRME from an environmental perspective, that is to create a go green campus. This is because the majority of the waste in SBM is plastic drinking bottle and using tumbler is one solution. The distribution of the tumblr was held on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at SBM ITB Building, Jl. Ganeca No.10, Lb. Siliwangi.

“We want students to be accustomed to taking tumbler anywhere, be it in the environment, especially in the campus environment. We want to reduce plastic waste, especially plastic drinking bottles, ”said Melia Famiola, PhD, as chair of PRME SBM ITB. Besides the PRME chairman, Melia is also a Lecturer in Environmental Management System, Social Entrepreneurship, and Corporate Social Responsibility.

Melia added that hopefully by giving tumbler to new students, they could get used to not buying plastic bottled mineral water anymore because everyone already has their own tumbler.

It is hoped that with this kind of action, hopefully the second, third level students, lecturers, and all campus masses can also help reduce plastic bottle waste by carrying and using their respective tumbler.

“Ya, hopefully, in 2020 plastic waste in the SBM campus environment will be in minimum numbers” said Melia.

“I am happy to get tumbler because it is one of the best ways to reduce plastic drinking bottles. Hopefully in the future plastic waste in SBM can be reduced, “said Dinda as one of SBM ITB 2022 students.
