SBM ITB students have made another achievement. This time, the ITB student team named Corporate Pirates won the first place in the 2019 Java business competition business case (national) branch. This competition was held by Telkom University from 27 to 29 September 2019 at Telkom University, Buah Batu, Bandung.
This competition departs from the idea that Telkom DDS as a division of Telkom companies aims to develop blockchain technology in Indonesia. The participants were asked to propose an idea about the use of blockchain most useful in the community.
“We want to give experience and knowledge, especially to those who use telecommunications. So, it is definitely technology,” said Raelis when asked why his team would like to participate in the competition. The Corporate Pirates Team consists of Raelis, Dian PP, and Anisa Ramadian. All of them are SBM students majoring in Management 2020.
Corporate Pirates brought the idea of an agricultural Blockchain. With the agricultural Blockchain, all harvests from farmers are recorded and can be sold on the free market. Thus, farmers’ income increases and prices of products in the market go down. They also offered a patent of blockchain to avoid plagiarism because all works of art are recorded. Then, the blockchain umkm aims to work with banks.
Thanks to their idea, the Caritas Pirates team finally won first place in this competition. “I am very happy, relieved because the hard work paid off,” said Dian PP.
“No one has a technology background, and no one understood the blockchain before this race. So you have to really learn from scratch and arrange your ideas from scratch, “said Nisa when telling the struggles they experienced during the competition.
Raelis said that as a Management student he learned how to provide solutions to the needs and wants of the community which would be useful and feasible to run. He also learned about how to analyze a case. “Hopefully in the future we can encourage other friends to take part in the competition as well, and can learn more through competitions in the future,” he said.
