Based on data from BPS in 2020, the unemployment rate in Indonesia has risen to 14 percent due to the Covid-19 pandemic. One of the things that can be done to reduce unemployment in Indonesia is by increasing the number of entrepreneurs.
Mahajasa, Adem Fresh, and Sayurmoms have collaborated with SBM ITB and PRIME to organize a webinar, the purpose of the event is to share knowledge with young people about running a business from a young age. “The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the habits of many people, as well as sales that were previously made by physical contact, turned into online selling,” stated Hanifah Dwi Adiratna, CEO of Mahajasa (17/4/2021).
Hanifah also shared that South Korea succeeded in increasing its GDP by taking advantage of the demographic bonus in the country. With the demographic bonus, the South Korean government encourages an increase in MSMEs so that, in turn, it can increase GDP.
Hanifah also told us that actual online selling is a great opportunity to try since it doesn’t require a lot of capital. The next presentation was carried out by Yazerlin Nadila Balqis, CEO of Sayurmoms regarding the tricks of selling on the marketplace. “Before starting selling on a marketplace, first learn about each existing marketplace, study the characteristics of each marketplace and its users. After that, start selling in the marketplace that matches with your target market, ” said the girl who is usually called Zerlin.
In her presentation, Zerlin also gave tips to attract customers to the marketplace. The first thing that can be done is by upgrading the store, in some marketplaces, there are several levels such as silver and super gold with store upgrading that can increase customer trust in the store. According to the CEO of Sayurmoms, there are several other ways that we can use to attract customers, such as providing discounted prices and attractive promos, giving free shipping, and posting interesting product photos in stores.
The next sharing was carried out by Didid Rogiananto, CFO of Adem Fresh, regarding the delivery service order. “Currently, operating a business can be done easily, we can sell without having to open a physical shop. The trend of delivery service order, especially at Gofood and Grabfood, has become a new trend in Indonesia,” said Didid.
According to him, as sellers, we must have value to differentiate our products from competitors. He also explained that before selling a product, we must know exactly the characteristics of the customer that we are targeting so that we don’t create the wrong product. The point is product creation must be based on market needs.
Muhammad Al Haris, CEO of PT. Haritsa Pipa Rezeki was also invited to share stories about his success in developing Haritsa Barbershop. “Before becoming an entrepreneur, we must first set the never-give-up mindset to simplify the next steps which are actions and lead to good results,” said Haris.
In the closing, Haris also explained the IKIGAI concept to audiences regarding determining what fields or types of business are suitable and in accordance with their passions. Throughout the event, the audience which was dominated by young people was very enthusiastic by asking questions to the speakers.
