The Erasmus+ OPTBANK designed to strengthen the research capacities of Indonesian universities in the field of banking and finance by training and by increasing the international exposure of scholars and students to help them attain higher research standards in the field of banking and finance. The project’s workshop developed several modules in finance and banking course that were implemented by two Indonesian university partners, School of Business and Management, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta. The modules implemented by ITB through the following courses:

  1. Advanced Financial Planning

Advanced Financial Planning is a course offered to the Master and Doctoral Program in Science Management as an updated course. Advanced Financial Planning is an elective course available for students who take a major in finance.

21% (equal to 9 hours) contents of this course are taken from the modules developed by OPTBANK project: OPTBANK Module 7- Financial literacy, financial inclusion and financial deepening by Prof. Jon Williams (Bangor University).

The number of students is more than expected since the course equips students with the knowledge of financial literacy, financial inclusion, and financial technology. They could also improve the skills they need to manage money effectively. The course itself complies with the Certified Financial Planner curriculum.

  1. Corporate Risk Management

Corporate Risk Management is a course offered to the Master Program in Business Management as an updated course and an elective course for students taking the finance major.

Notes:

The syllabus of this course was updated by adopting several topics proposed in the OPTBank workshop, particularly in credit risk, market risk, and liquidity risk management. Altogether, it changed about 25% of the preexisting syllabus (equal to 7.5 hours).

The module implemented in this course is OPTBANK Module 1- Banking Institutions and Bank Risk Management by Prof. Franco Fiordelisi (University of Rome III).

More students enrolled in this course than expected because they want to know how to minimize the risk in business, mitigate the risks, and manage the risk due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

  1. Financial Risk Management

Financial Risk Management is offered to students in Master Program in Science Management. The course is updated and offered as an elective course for students majoring in finance.

The syllabus of this course was updated by adopting several topics proposed in the OPTBANK workshop, particularly in credit risk, market risk, operational risk, and liquidity risk management. Altogether, it changed about 45% of the preexisting syllabus (equal to 13.5 hours).

The module implemented in this course is OPTBANK Module 1- Banking Institutions and Bank Risk Management by Prof. Franco Fiordelisi (University of Rome III).

  1. Financial Planning

Financial planning course is offered to the Undergraduate Program in Management, updated to apply the Erasmus+ OPTBANK modules as an elective course for students taking a major in finance.

The number of students is more than expected, and it was open every semester or twice a year because there are many students very enthusiasts to attend this course. On August 2020 and 2021, the course opened to two (2) classes conducted by Sylviana Maya Damayanti and Subiakto Soekarno. The participants were from School of Business and Management students and other faculties/schools in ITB. This course equips students with the knowledge and skills they need to manage money effectively, so they can directly apply this course to their daily life and achieve their goals through financial planning.
