Indonesia’s tourism trend is shifting towards smart and future-oriented tourism development with four pillars: innovation, technology, management, and sustainability. Thus, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy provides policy directions for the tourism platform and the creative economy in three main areas: innovation, adaptation, and collaboration.
It was said by Endah Ruswanti, ST., Mt., M.Eng, a Policy Analyst Young Expert Deputy for Destination Development and Infrastructure Directorate of Destination Governance, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, in the MSM DSM Lounge as an academic and research forum, held a public webinar on tourism entitled “Rethinking Local Tourism: Learning from the Actors”, held by SBM ITB.
The seminar was also attended by Andi Yuwono, S.Sos., M.Sc, the Chairperson of the ASIDEWI Tourism Village Association.
Endah added that it is hoped that the destination with quality, resilience, and sustainability will be realized by improving the quality and reputation of tourism destinations with an outstanding value proposition, locality, competitiveness, inclusiveness, and sustainability. In her presentation, Endah also explained the 2021 flagship activities from the Deputy for Destination and Infrastructure Development, especially in tourism villages and sustainable destinations.
After the presentation from the government’s point of view in the first session, Ir. Doto Yogantoro continued the session by presenting a practitioner’s point of view with the title of the presentation “Village Tourism Pentingsari, Empowerment and Sustainable Tourism”. As the title implies, Doto described the success of Pentingsari Village in realizing a tourism village that is the choice of local and international tourists in traveling. Through the pioneering, developing, and advanced stages, Pentingsari Village has become an independent tourist village with the ability to innovate, standard facilities, collaborative penta helix, diversification, and digitization products, and become the leading destination.
Furthermore, the webinar was closed with the presentation by Andi Yuwono, S.Sos., M.Si. entitled “From the Spirit of Local Wisdom, Towards a Great Tourism Village, a Dignified Nation,” explaining the definition, objectives, potential and problems, legal basis, and the use of primary commodities in tourism villages.
