Certification becomes one of the standards to measure how far a person can already do a particular job. It also shows the ability and professional expertise of a particular organizational body or individual.
Global challenges emerged new qualifications with high standards, both in terms of education and individual competency. This aims to meet the industry needs in developing every line of business in the globalization era.
“The increasingly higher qualification needed for the workforce in the industrial aspect makes every individual need to have abilities accredited to professional standards. It means that the competency should have already been recognized by the competency certification organization. So, when someone has already had recognized professional competencies, she/he can get the desired job easier,” said Prof. Fauzi Hasan in the MBA ITB Guest Lecturer session, Wednesday (2/2/2022).
To answer the global challenges, each individual needs a certification with a high standard, especially international standard or international certification. This certification is not related to an award owned by each individual but rather a form of evidence that the individual has the necessary professional abilities.
There are five reasons why a person needs to have an international certificate. First, one will get a higher wage. Second, each individual will be increasingly ready to enter the workforce. Third, it can improve the skills and knowledge needed by the global workforce. Fourth, it increases the respect earned. Fifth, you can choose several types of jobs appropriate to the certified professionals’ competencies.
On the other hand, when a company gets an employee with a standard certification, especially international standards, it will get more benefits. The company’s productivity will increase due to a professional workforce, and training costs will be reduced and more effective.
Therefore, international certification is one of the essentials needed by every individual. Certification increases the individuals’ competencies in every job, equips individuals with basic skills in thinking and doing, has recognized abilities, and gets a job easier.
However, certification is not the end for a person to develop themself because self-development and competency development are continuous, meaning everyone needs to continue to develop their competency and knowledge. Thus, each individual can generate a new value in themself that can distinguish them from others.
