SBM ITB, in its event entitled “FLASH (Future Leaders Share): Care to Empower,” invited Gufron Syarif, the Founder & CEO of Haus!, and Firman Aldianto, the Co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of Atmosphere Kopi, to share their experiences in establishing a coffee business in Indonesia.
With no experience and learning from mistakes, this Padjadjaran University graduate, Gufron Syarif, built Haus after seeing the potential in boba drink, outside of milk coffee, in Indonesia. With this potential, Gufron saw that there was still a gap in the market targeted by the market leader in the boba segment. Seeing an opportunity, Gufron targeted the lower middle class for the Haus market, resulting in more than a hundred outlets today.
Gufron also explained about his marketing strategy. Getting to know the market and adjusting the communication with the target market is the most important way to get the proper communication in building a business.
In contrast to Gufron Syarif, a Mechanical Engineering graduate from Brawijaya University, Firman Aldianto, built Suasana Kopi due to his passion for branding and social media. Starting with a friend’s invitation to establish Suasana Kopi, Firman created Suasana Kopi for everyone to enjoy coffee in their own atmosphere. Suasana Kopi is the place to go if you want to hangout while having coffee.
Suasana Kopi provides an approach according to its name: Suasana Kopi which means Coffee atmosphere. Redefining the coffee lifestyle is the purpose and basis of the communication for Suasana Kopi. In addition, “Following the trend and rising brand is also important to enter the market as a new brand,” said Firman.
