The national economic recovery of Indonesia is now vigorously conducted in all sectors of industry. Blockchain, one of the most critical issues nowadays, is discussed by many for its potential to run the economy of a nation now and in the future. In response to this, Datalab SBM ITB invites Andry Alamsyah, the Chairman and Founder of Indonesian Data Scientist Society (AIDI), to present in DataTalks: Blockchain & Token Economy on Monday (20/6/2022) using Zoom Meeting.
Andry illustrates Blockchain and Token Economics as an understandable technology, even easier to understand compared to the learning of Data Analytics. However, only a few people are familiar with it and most assume it is likely hard to learn due to new terminologies.
“Blockchain is simple. The principle is all about the distributed data attached with the cryptography so that it is unchangeable, and then rewarding people who show good deeds” said him in describing blockchain.
Meanwhile, Token Economy, or “Tokenomy” is a technology generated from three knowledge disciplines: economy, psychology, and engineering.
Blockchain and token economy can potentially create highly disruptive changes in so many aspects of life. One appealing discussion in the session is about the occurrence of Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC) and their impact on the commercial bank. “What is the role of commercial banks? That is a valid question. Perhaps, they are going to disappear. Well, we want to create efficiency, but not killing jobs,” he said.
The immense enthusiasm of the audience is clear, indicated by their continuous diverse questions. Questions about how to start, the impacts, and its relation with the issue of lands are also covered in the question and answer session. To support the participants, Andry also recommends two books for the audience to gain a more comprehensive understanding of this technology.
In closing, the blockchain expert emphasizes that blockchain is made to keep the ethical aspects for all parties who participate in their activities in the metaverse world.
