Five first-year students from SBM ITB won 1st place in the Creative Business and Marketing Plan Competition (CREATION) 2022, held by the Economics Student Association of the Atma Jaya University Management Study Program on 1-21 November 2022. Rania Ilham Ananda, Fawwaaz Luthfi, Melandri Rifaza, Sirkhan Davidson, and Timotius Wiarda Santoso won by highlighting current cake trends that are creative, innovative and in demand by the millennial generation.

They were originally a group of students who had no previous competition experience. They dared participate in competitions with the skills and knowledge acquired from SBM.

The five students named their innovation Lohi Sabubukna. Lohi comes from the word HiLo (a powdered milk brand), which is reversed, and Sabubukna is taken from Sundanese until it turns to dust–to the smallest form, like powder). If combined, it can be interpreted as a team that will try its best to its smallest power regardless of the conditions.

Their product idea is the Tres Leches Cake, a cake originating from Mexico, using HiLo Almond Milk powder as the main ingredient. Knowing that this food is still rare in the market, Lohi Sabubukna thinks that this food has the potential to grow due to the increasing interest in sweet foods.

The results of their market survey got positive responses, hence they considered making Tres Leches Cake.

In starting the idea, they used the Golden Circle method to understand why they made this innovation. They always put the needs and interests of their customers first, creating a strong foundation for their product’s success.

During the competition, they admitted that they often faced challenges, especially prioritizing time.

“There will always be challenges, but we always try to complete each task as quickly as possible,” said Fawwaaz.

They got a lot of lessons during this competition.

“From this competition we learned that studying business is not only about creating new, unique and innovative businesses but about how a business can solve various existing problems,” said Fawwaaz.
