The Samarinda City Government is trying hard to make Samarinda a smart city. Transformation through digitalization is one of the measures to achieve this goal.
The Head of Samarinda City E-Government Application and Services Suparmin explained the city’s vision and mission while presenting as a guest lecture on Digital Business Innovation and Transformation for the Young Professional MBA class at the MBA ITB Building on Tuesday (7/2).
Suparmin said Samarinda’s digital transformation was marked by establishing the Communication and Information Service in 2017, where all digital services were integrated into one platform. Furthermore, this year, the City Government plans to launch a super application called Samarinda Santer.
Samarinda Santer has been developed since 2021. All services will be integrated into the super application.
The City Government hopes that, with Samarinda Santer, the service provided to the public can be faster and easier. This includes collecting regional revenues, such as regional fees and parking.
“The advantage gained from digitalization so far is an increase in local revenue (PAD) up to IDR 2.7 trillion in 2022,” said Suparmin. “the target is to increase it up to IDR 5 trillion by 2024.”
Suparmin acknowledged that the implementation of digitalization in Samarinda City faced significant challenges. At the beginning, many things had to be changed, especially those civil servants who were in a comfort zone. There was some resistance to digitization. However, now, the presented information technology is proven to advance Samarinda.
