The entrepreneurship students of the class of 2024 at the SBM ITB had an exhilarating experience in the Startup Business Practices lecture on Thursday (25/4). This wasn’t just a lecture but an interactive session where students were actively involved in cooking practices and designing a business from the food they cooked that day.

During this lecture, students were divided into groups and faced a challenge: to create a processed food product using tempeh as the main ingredient. The catch was that the cost of goods sold (COGS) for their products could not exceed IDR 100,000. Their task was to cook a product that could be sold profitably, adding a competitive edge to the learning experience.

The practical lecture occurred in the SBM ITB Building Parking, Ganesha Campus, Bandung. After cooking, students presented the results to the lecturer. This practice assessed several aspects or factors, namely creative thinking, the cooking process, COGS and target selling price, and the presentation and taste of the food.

Practical lectures like this are designed to educate students to become innovative leaders and foster an entrepreneurial spirit. The learning outcomes of this lecture include understanding the importance of cost control (COGS), developing creative thinking skills in product design, and honing presentation and communication skills. At the end of the lecture, the three best groups emerged as winners, demonstrating their mastery of these skills.
