For Zico Pratama, the Chief Technology Officer of PT Mojadi APP, artificial intelligence (AI) involves developing and studying computer systems designed to solve complex real-world problems typically associated with intelligence. This definition highlights that AI goes beyond merely imitating human intelligence—it also possesses the capability to tackle intricate issues that are often challenging for humans to solve.

Zico shared this perspective during a guest lecture titled “Human Capital Management in the Digital Era” on Tuesday (6/8) for students of the Master of Science in Management at the SBM ITB. According to Zico, AI plays a significant role in developing human resources in the workplace.

Zico outlined several classic approaches to AI classification. First, AI thinks like humans, focusing on understanding how the human brain works and replicating it in computer systems. Second, AI reasons, emphasizing the use of logic and reasoning to solve problems. Third, AI acts like humans, aiming to create machines capable of interacting with humans naturally, as demonstrated by the Turing test. Lastly, AI acts rationally, concentrating on developing intelligent agents that act rationally to achieve specific goals.

Zico elaborated on the potential of AI to transform employee development. AI can craft personalized training programs that cater to each individual’s unique needs and learning styles. It can also offer real-time feedback and consistently monitor employee performance through performance analytics. Furthermore, AI can aid employees in planning their careers more effectively using data and analysis (career pathing).

“AI can be an invaluable partner for companies in maximizing employee potential,” Zico stated. “By utilizing AI, companies can foster a more productive work environment, enabling employees to reach their full potential.”

During the lecture, Zico invited students to participate in a demonstration. Students were asked to face a webcam, and an AI algorithm analyzed their facial expressions to identify their moods in real-time. This demonstration illustrated how AI can be used to understand human emotions and provide appropriate responses. With a deeper understanding of AI, students are not just passive learners but future innovative leaders who will use technology to shape a better future.
