Albert Lukas Pithel Hasugian, a 7th-semester student in the Entrepreneurship Program at SBM ITB, recently won first place in the Product category of the Uniqlo Global Management Program (GMP). His success reflects his dedication since the beginning of his studies at SBM ITB, where he actively participated in various business-focused organizations and committees, especially in event management and self-development.

Albert also pursued his interest in business consulting through business plan competitions, ultimately leading to several national and international wins, including his recent GMP victory, which he describes as a gateway to greater opportunities.

“This program provided a wealth of insights and knowledge. For five days, we explored the retail industry, aiming to understand its workings and deepen our understanding of Fast Retailing,” Albert said on Tuesday (10/10).

During the program, participants were divided into teams to tackle three main topics: products, stores, and industry. Albert and his team were tasked with developing Uniqlo’s product strategy and competing in the field.

“I was very impressed with Zenin Keiei, a core Uniqlo value that views every employee, including staff, as a manager. This approach gives each individual a role in shaping the company’s strategic decisions,” he added.

Albert noted that Zenin Keiei empowers Uniqlo staff to make effective decisions and fosters a strong sense of ownership in the company. He also highlighted the importance of Uniqlo’s two-way communication model, which allows staff to provide direct input, ultimately enhancing customer satisfaction. 

“From this program, I believe the Zenin Keiei concept is relevant for implementation in Indonesia. This two-way communication can foster ownership and allow individuals to contribute to the company’s decision-making,” explained Albert.

Looking ahead, Albert aims to pursue a career in consulting, where he can apply his strategic thinking skills to help businesses through analysis and solutions. He is also interested in corporate business development. 

“All of these achievements are thanks to the guidance of my seniors at SBM. In the future, I hope to ‘give back’ to the community using my knowledge to help others,” Albert concluded enthusiastically.
