A well-crafted curriculum vitae (CV) is becoming increasingly important in the job search. A CV mustn’t be created carelessly; instead, it should be tailored to the specific job position being applied for.
“A CV is a page that showcases your achievements and suitability for the job openings offered by a company. Therefore, it’s important to understand the industry and position you’re applying for and to create a CV that aligns with the required qualifications,” said Illona June Wahyudin, Recruiter at PT Bank Central Asia Tbk, during a workshop titled “BCA Tips on How to Impress HR with Your Application” at SBM ITB, on Friday (19/10).
The event, organized by the Association of Management Students (KMM) SBM ITB in collaboration with Bank Central Asia (BCA), aimed to help students enhance their career prospects.
According to Illona, there are two main types of CVs: ATS-friendly and creative. ATS-friendly CVs are ideal for positions focusing on process and achievement, while creative CVs are more suitable for roles requiring creativity. Both types are effective as long as they are matched appropriately with the job position.
In addition to CVs, Illona highlighted LinkedIn’s growing importance in the job search. As a leading tool for personal branding, LinkedIn allows users to showcase their achievements and career journey.
“Although professionals generally use LinkedIn, students can start being active on the platform to build their personal branding early,” she advised.
The workshop ended with a Q&A session and direct CV mentoring by Illona, who provided suggestions for improving the structure of participants’ CVs, including tips on self-descriptions, education, organizational experience, and formatting.
The collaboration between KMM SBM ITB and BCA is expected to create opportunities and inspire SBM ITB students to continue progressing and collaborating, preparing them to enter the workforce and become future leaders. This aligns with the spirit of KMM’s transformation, “Putih Alih,” and SBM ITB’s vision, “For the Greater Good.”
