One of Telkom Indonesia’s primary strategies for addressing technological and digital disruption is implementing Digital Connectivity. This approach includes several initiatives, such as establishing InfraCo (PT Telkom Infrastruktur Indonesia), a new entity tasked with managing fiber optic assets and enhancing customer service quality. InfraCo represents Telkom’s effort to strengthen its corporate segment business.

In addition to InfraCo, Telkom has also launched NeutraDC, a brand under PT Telkom Data Ekosistem, focusing on big data processing (data centers). Furthermore, the company has introduced a B2B Digital and IT Service initiative through Telkomsigma. Meanwhile, the Digital Services business line continues to develop applications like Peduli Lindungi and LinkAja, demonstrating Telkom’s commitment to providing innovative digital solutions.

Muhammad Subhan Iswahyudi, Senior Manager of the School of Enabler and Corporate Transformation at Telkom Indonesia, highlighted these business initiatives during a seminar titled “Empowering Corporate Digital Talent: Strategies for Innovation and Growth” held at Amphitheater 1 of the MBA ITB, on Friday (6/12). This seminar is part of the Industry-Based Learning Series.

According to Subhan, the success of these initiatives hinges on continuously updating employee competencies. For example, Telkomsel employees are encouraged to understand IndiHome operations and vice versa to support cross-unit mobility.

Telkom Indonesia also employs the Job Architecture & Competency Directory framework to align employee competencies with business needs. This framework comprises 124 Job Roles, 10 Leadership Competencies, and 281 Technical Competencies.

Telkom adopts a 70-20-10 learning approach to develop these competencies: 70% from direct experience, 20% from social learning, and 10% from formal training. Subhan explained that this approach ensures employees grow in line with Telkom’s business transformation goals.

Talent development at Telkom is further supported by the vision of Telkom CorpU, a specialized unit distinct from Telkom University, which focuses on academic education. Telkom CorpU is designed to enhance the competencies of existing employees to align with business needs. The learning process at Telkom CorpU integrates five stages: identifying competency needs (define), designing the curriculum (design), implementing learning programs (develop), delivering materials (deliver), and assessing effectiveness (evaluate).

Additionally, Telkom CorpU utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) technology through the AI-based CorpU approach to accelerate adaptive learning. AI enables the creation of innovative solutions, supports personalized learning experiences, and provides data-driven insights to meet the demands of digital transformation.

The Digital Talent Readiness Program prepares employees for the digital transformation era. The program encompasses four readiness levels: digital awareness surveys and mindset development (fundamental), basic to intermediate competency development (proficient), advanced digital skills with certification (savvy), and advanced certifications based on project needs within the digital ecosystem (industry). By the first week of December 2024, Telkom had developed 4,399 digital talents, exceeding its year-end target of 2,900 talents.

Subhan also discussed Telkom’s innovation framework, the Telkom Athon Journey program, which utilizes a 4C-based learning process: Course, Coach, Community, and Competition. This program aims to enhance employees’ digital skills, foster collaboration through innovation communities, and generate innovative solutions through competitions.
