SBM ITB remains committed to positively impacting local communities. This commitment is reflected in the launch of the Societal Impact program, aimed at developing the economic potential of villages. The program was officially introduced at Amartha Village, Cilandak, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (5/2).

One of the ongoing initiatives under the Societal Impact program focuses on Ciroyom Village, Cirata, West Bandung. The Ciroyom Village Government acknowledges SBM ITB’s crucial role as a partner in helping the community develop sustainable businesses that contribute to economic growth. Through SBM ITB’s support in business development and economic empowerment, residents are expected to increase their income, ultimately driving development at the village government level.

With the social impact statement, “SBM ITB aims to empower entrepreneurs by providing access to resources and opportunities that enable sustainable business growth in high-potential communities,” SBM ITB’s Societal Impact Chair, Yunieta Anny Nainggolan, emphasized that the program is a tangible contribution to business education and its role in society, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 8 (Economic Growth). The initiative also reinforces SBM ITB’s commitment to meeting the prestigious AACSB international accreditation standards.

“The area around the Cirata PLTS reservoir has significant potential to be developed into a sustainable ecotourism destination. Additionally, there are opportunities in food production, handicrafts, and outdoor tourism,” she added.

The program is being implemented in collaboration with PLN Nusantara Power. SBM ITB aims to expand its efforts by partnering with other organizations to develop sustainable local communities in different regions.

To support similar initiatives, SBM ITB has signed several cooperation agreements with key institutions, including the Cooperative, Corporate, and People’s Economy Research Center, the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), PT Sahabat Investasi Indotama (SII), and the West Bandung Regency Government. These agreements reinforce SBM ITB’s partnerships with various stakeholders, strengthening collaboration to build a more sustainable future through business development.
