The SBM ITB recognized 34 companies, MSMEs, and organizations for contributing to sustainable innovation at the 2024 Avirama Nawasena Award ceremony. The awards were presented as part of SBM ITB’s 21st Anniversary celebration at Amartha Village, South Jakarta (5/2).

SBM ITB also honored Amartha Founder and CEO Andi Taufan Garuda Putra and Novrizal Pratama, Chair of the SBM ITB Alumni Association, for their significant contributions to the event’s success. Both are alumni of SBM ITB.

The Avirama Nawasena Award is an annual recognition granted to individuals and institutions that develop innovations supporting Indonesia’s transition to a sustainable economy. The Chair of the Avirama Nawasena Award, Atika Irawan, M.Sc., emphasized in her speech that ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles are not merely a passing trend but a fundamental pillar for building a sustainable future in both business and society.

“Companies that successfully implement ESG principles will not only gain the trust of investors and consumers but will also be better prepared to face global challenges,” Atika stated.

She further explained that SBM ITB is committed to integrating ESG principles through initiatives such as the United Nations Global Compact and the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME). These efforts aim to equip students with sustainability insights while fostering research and innovation in the ESG field.

This year, the Avirama Nawasena Award expanded its scope by including MSMEs and non-profit organizations alongside corporate participants. The selection process involved two stages: an initial assessment based on innovation analysis and scoring, followed by a presentation and interview with a panel of ESG experts from various sectors.

“We hope this award strengthens our collective commitment to creating a greener, fairer, and more sustainable future,” said the Rector of Institut Teknologi Bandung, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, M.T., in his speech.

This year’s award recipients were recognized for their achievements in various fields, including sustainable product innovation, supply chain sustainability, inclusive workplace culture, and social change initiatives.

“This award is not the end, but the beginning of a greater responsibility. We all have a role in shaping a better world, as individuals, organizations, and business communities,” Atika concluded.

SBM ITB hopes that this recognition will inspire more organizations and individuals to drive sustainability-focused innovation and accelerate the transition to a more environmentally friendly, efficient, and equitable economy.
