Sekolah Bisnis dan Manajemen (SBM) Institut Teknologi Bandung kembali menggelar Magister Science Manahement dan Doctoral Science Management Lounge pada Jumat (8/9). Kelas ini memperkaya pengetahuan 25 mahasiswa MSM dan DSM yang hadir mengenai analisis data, khususnya dalam bidang Multiple Linear Regression.
Dr. Syaiful Iqbal dari Fakultas Ekonomi dan Bisnis Universitas Brawijaya menjadi pembicara utama dalam kegiatan ini.
Multiple Linear Regression menurut Syaiful adalah teknik statistik yang menggunakan beberapa variabel penjelas untuk memprediksi hasil dari variabel respons.
Syaiful elaborated on Multiple Linear Regression as a statistical technique that harnesses multiple explanatory variables to predict outcomes for the response variable. “In contrast,” he elucidated, “Simple Linear Regression involves just one predictor and one predicted variable, whereas Multiple Linear Regression encompasses multiple predictors and a single predicted variable.”
He explained data collection methods, including variables, population, samples, and techniques. Next, he discussed data analysis methods, covering model validity, reliability, descriptiveness, and hypothesis testing.
Syaiful guided the audience in the process of selecting variables for their research. He emphasized that commencing with a broad research area, such as marketing, and subsequently narrowing it down to a specific facet, such as marketing performance, constitutes an excellent initial step.
“Variables constitute the crux of researchers’ focus. The selection process should be grounded in theory and informed by previous research,” he emphasized.
This activity is expected to improve the understanding and skills of MSM and DSM SBM ITB students in data analysis, especially Multiple Linear Regression. In this way, students are expected to be able to complete their research more efficiently.
