“Business is not only about money, but how we create value to offer to the wider community,” said Athalia Mutiara Laksmi, CEO of HearMe, while giving a guest lecture on the Customer Insight and Business Model course at the SBM ITB on Tuesday (21 /11/2022).
Atha also adhered to this principle when she founded HearMe. Atha founded HearMe not because she wanted to profit and become a billionaire.
Atha founded HearMe because of her experience with a deaf driver. From there, Atha and his friends got a lot of insight and complaints about how the driver felt, which inspired them to help the deaf people.
At first, HearMe was engaged in the business-to-customer (B2C) sector, but it didn’t work as it should. In the end, HearMe decided to pivot alias and change the direction of the business to B2B (Business to Business). There is an opportunity for all businesses to be directed to implement the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).
“Of course, it is not easy to run a business. Moreover, HearMe only consists of SBM ITB Entrepreneurship students. However, not easy doesn’t mean impossible”
HearMe decided to participate in various startup communities and competitions. HearMe began to be known and many wanted to invest in HearMe.
“We also get resources from technology experts who help us make the HearMe application what it is today,” added Atha.
HearMe has been downloaded over 50 thousand and received a rating of 4.7 (out of 5) on the PlayStore. HearMe has been present at several airports to help deaf people obtain information.
