Tatang Suryana, Secretary of the West Java Province Cooperatives and Small Business Service emphasized the crucial role of entrepreneurship in addressing unemployment and supporting the vision of Indonesia 2045. He shared these insights while guest lecturing in the Business Economics course at the SBM ITB on Wednesday (27/6).

Tatang highlighted that Indonesia currently has 9.9 million unemployed individuals from Generation Z. To achieve the vision of Indonesia 2045, the government focuses on inclusive, effective, and contributive human and economic development, primarily increasing the entrepreneurship ratio among youth.

“The development of MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) is very important. With the facilities available, we believe that young people can significantly increase the entrepreneurial ratio,” Tatang stated.

According to Tatang, the main challenge is cultivating human resources ready to become young entrepreneurs who can create jobs, boost Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), and reduce unemployment and poverty.

Indonesia lags in the proportion of credit (20%) and export contribution (14%). However, West Java has progressed, with its highest economic value reaching IDR 55.2 trillion.

Tatang noted that MSMEs require adequate access to capital, but only 12% of MSMEs currently utilize banking services. To address this, the West Java government is facilitating the Online Financing Access Consultation Program (KABAYAN) and West Java Online Funding to support MSME financing, along with assistance through the Integrated Business Service Center (PLUT) and the Singakota program to help business actors scale to larger and global levels. West Java aims to become the most advanced and competitive province globally, with a regional entrepreneurship ratio projected to reach 9.86% by 2045.

“The government provides certification, marketing, and financing facilities for small business actors by Law No. 23 of 2014,” Tatang explained.

He emphasized the importance of digital technology in expanding business reach to international markets, citing the development of Qris in West Java. Tatang invited SBM ITB students to become aspiring entrepreneurs who can increase income in Indonesia and create new job opportunities for the welfare of the Indonesian people.
